Carpenter has certainly carved out her niche in the horror/psychological drama genres. She is awesome in Dexter. But I wouldn't watch Grayson Arms with your eyes!!

I would go Elisabeth Röhm for Sonya. And Scorpion is supposed to be Japanese, and Scorpion is supposed to be half-Chinese and half-American. I'd re-cast them.

That aside though, I completely agree with the rest of your casting. Great job! I'm glad to an MK fan take on this task.

As we previously discussed, the line between the science fiction of Spielberg’s other efforts such as the war of the worlds, ET, ai, films and the eye candy adventures of jones' past should not be crossed. I enjoyed this film until the last 10 minutes when my 2 hours of denial was realized. I felt that the movie didn't center around jones as it should have. Instead it was a bad mixture of "getting to old for this" and the quest for the origins of a skull that’s true meaning is never really discussed. That said, it was Indiana Jones, a franchise that I grew up watching but was too young to actually see in the theater. I didn't go to the theater that night looking for a vast plot or deeper meaning; I just wanted to feel like a kid at the movies. Instead, much like the democrats this year, the film makers decided to get cute on a sure thing.

I was a little leery of the casting choices for this too - as I was about the idea of yet ANOTHER movie based on a classic TV show. After some thought and seeing the trailer, though, I don't think you could get a better selection that Steve Carell..and Anne Hathaway is way underrated; her comedic skill is better than most think...I think they'll pull this one off nicely.

When you deal with the author converting the book into a screenplay, you can both have advantages and disadvantages, I feel.

Some authors adapt the work knowing how film structure works. A book and a film are quite different, and you need a really good author to adapt his/her own work.

Other authors will refuse to negotiate significant changes from novel to celluloid, either because they are stubborn, have grown too close to their own novel/la, or do not have any knowledge of how plot points in a film differ from plot points of a novel.

I think in this case, he grew too close to his own work, and refused outside help when converting. Major no-no.
